Pairs
Junior Time - One and a half minutes (maximum)
Senior Time - Two minutes (maximum)

If a pair is comprised of a kyu grade and a Dan Grade then they will be entered into the Dan Grade Division.

Continuous Fighting
Minimum age for Juniors is 12 years old.

Sparring - one point to be awarded for each clear kick or punch. No straight punches to the head or hard contact.

After 45 seconds the Centre Ref shouts “grip”. The fighters then grip and try to throw/take down their opponent. No kicking or punching is allowed. 5 points to be awarded for clean throw – 3 points for takedown. If the fighters go to the ground by a throw then they continue with ground fighting. If, after 45 seconds of gripping, no throw has been achieved the ref will shout “grip” again and the fighters keep hold but are now placed in a kneeling position.

They ground fight for a further 45 seconds. A tap out or submission will be awarded 5 points.
They then start again on the sparring section – time permitting.

Any fighter who delivers hard contact or illegal moves will be warned with a yellow card and 3 points will be added to the opponents score. A second yellow card indicates instant disqualification and will be followed up by a red card.
